Business Partners
Marc Brakenrig
Business Partner / Director
Marc founded Rural Business Partners with a clear purpose: to give New Zealand's farmers and growers access to specialist independent business advice. He brings with him a combination of academic grounding, deep financial experience, and a genuine passion for rural New Zealand.
After graduating from Lincoln University with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science with First Class Honours in Farm Management, Marc spent over 12 years in rural banking, working across New Zealand for the country's two largest agricultural lenders. His roles spanned agribusiness, corporate agri, credit risk management, and people leadership — giving him a uniquely broad view of what makes rural businesses succeed and where the pressure points lie.
Through that work, Marc had the privilege of supporting a wide range of farming and growing operations and built a wide network of rural professionals across the country.
Marc is chair of the Bay of Plenty branch of the Institute of Rural Professionals, an organisation dedicated to connecting and lifting the professional standards of those working in the rural sector — a cause he is deeply committed to.
